good cheap weights Jun 20, 2007

Just as i was going to suck it up & order these weights i found the same exact weights at 5 below. Yay!
I saved myself A LOT in shipping costs. They only charge $1 a pound for weights at the 5 below i went to, and they had up to 10 pound weights there. They also had adjustable walking weights. So I suggest checking at 5 below if you have one in your area.

Took longer to receive than expected. Had a friend order for me because I was short on time. She misunderstood and thought the dumbbells came in sets of two. We had to order more from another source later. Received those very fast.

I needed a 1 lb. dumbbell for my occupational therapy exercises. Do you know how difficult it is to find a 1 lb. dumbbell? If you go into a store and ask, they look at you like you're a wimp who can't handle anything heavier!
I ordered a 1 lb., a 2 lb., and a 3 lb. There isn't much to say about the dumbbells themselves: they look just like the pictures, and they seem to be the proper weight. They do smell a bit strongly of the chemicals used in the coating, but they're fine.
I was a bit disappointed in the packaging; the three dumbbells were stuck in a largish unreinforced mailing box, and there was a hole in the side of the box where the ends had obviously been banging around during shipping. They weren't damaged, but I imagine a heavier weight would have demolished the box and perhaps been lost in transit.
