Vinyl dumbell Apr 04, 2007

These are the nicest dumbells that I have used. 12 lbs. is kind of heavy for vinyl. The size and shape are perfect so that if you are targeting a muscle group and don't want to grip the dumbell, it won't slip around in your hand.
Poorly chosen shape. Feb 13, 2009
By D. Eldridge I'm disappointed. These dumbbells aren't made for people with smaller hands. The handles are THICK, thick enough that I find it hard enough to maintain a good grip when working them from certain angles, and not all that comfortable in any. And those with quite large hands may find their hand cramped between the side walls of the bells. If the product had been designed to be an inch or two longer with more of the weight in thicker or taller bells, they would be comfortable for all people. I've got pairs of 10 LB. vinyl dumbbells and 15 LB. metal grip dumbbells that follow this idea and they work great.
For those who can't tell by looking at the picture, these dumbbells forego hex or octal shape bells for a round design with parallel edges flattened out. Works well enough to keep them from rolling more than a quarter turn when set down. Every vinyl dipped product has rough and bumpy spots where the item was held while being dipped, and on these weights they are found as four small pimples on the far edges of the handle near the bells. I don't notice them while working out. There's also some larger bumps on one of the round edges of the bells and a short raised line that goes across the handle. The entire length of each dumbbell is about 8.5 inches long which, despite the grip problems described above, allow for storage in a smaller space.
