| | Description | Exercise balls are one of today's top fitness tools - and for good reason! Using an exercise ball will improve the strength of the abs and the lower back. Since the exercise ball is unstable you have to constantly adjust your balance, which in turn will improve your balance, proprioception and flexibility. As an extra challenge you can use the exercise ball as a bench using free-weights to target those hard to reach stabilizer muscles. Widely used by fitness trainers and athletes, the Swiss Ball Pro is designed especially for use with added resistance like dumbbells. Theragear exercise balls are made with a special material that prevents the ball from dangerously exploding if accidentally punctured, they have a non-slip surface and are latex-free. | |

Not all Exercise Balls are the same... you've found the best! Sep 25, 2009

I had originally priced and waited to purchase this model from the manufacturer... but when I was ready to purchase, they were all out! Luckily, one of the sellers on Amazon came to my rescue with the Anti-burst Swiss Pro Ball. (I purchased the 26" version, as I am 5'8" tall... more on that below)
The company (sissel / theragear in the US) makes great, quality exercise balls. EXERCISE BALLS ARE NOT ALL CREATED EQUAL. The reason you can pick up a ball from Wal-Mart or Target for $20-ish is because they are aiming for the one-size-fits-all bargain shopper. I love to shop around, and I spend as much time with these retailers as anywhere else. But exercise balls that are cheaply made can break, leaving you injured.
There are horror stories out there about pregnant women that have used balls that didn't have the anti-burst technology, and they're not happy stories :-(
With a sissel/theragear ball, you have several things going for you:
-- Great shipping (it won't arrive damaged)
-- Instructions that are easy to read and follow
-- A safe anti-burst ball that will "catch" you if it bursts. (Balls can be damaged, leak, if used without care. These balls are very forgiving, but the safety net of the anti-burst feature is one that you really should desire)
-- A WONDERFUL website with all sorts of free exercises for your new ball (you can even build and print out a routine!)
-- Different sizes for different heights
There are three types of exercise ball:
1) The Swiss Exercise Ball - Use the Swiss Exercise Ball for core stability, rehabilitation exercises, cardiovascular workouts and to strengthen and tone all major muscles in the body.
2) The Aero Ball - The Aero Ball is especially designed for aerobics and cardio, with materials that give it the extra bounce. The soft texture of the ball makes it an ideal choice for Yoga and Pilates as well.
3) The Swiss Ball Pro - This ball is especially designed to withstand the weight of heavy dumbbells, this ball endures your toughest workouts.
